Looking Glass DataHouse: active BGP path for IPv4 and IPv6

Looking Glass shows how a DataHouse router sees the route to a submitted IP address or prefix. The output focuses on the active BGP path, AS path, next-hop and traceroute hops with AS information where available.

Active route

The matched prefix, protocol, preference, next-hop and outgoing interface are shown when the router has a route.

AS path

AS path helps identify the sequence of autonomous systems visible to BGP.

Traceroute with AS data

For a single public IP, traceroute hops are enriched with AS numbers and operator names when possible.

Looking Glass input rules

  • Only a public IPv4 address, IPv6 address or CIDR prefix is accepted.
  • Bogons, private ranges, multicast and invalid addresses are rejected.
  • The user cannot submit arbitrary Junos commands.
  • For prefixes, the tool shows BGP route data and does not run traceroute.
  • The command is limited to inet.0 or inet6.0 active path.

Safety limits

The form accepts only a public IP address or CIDR prefix. IPv4 is checked in inet.0, IPv6 in inet6.0 and only the active path is displayed.
